English Translation of Al-Quran
[20].Surah Taha [Tâ-Hâ]
Ayat 115. And indeed We made a covenant with Adam before, but he forgot, and We found on his part no firm will-power.
[Tafseer] We had already, beforehand, taken the covenant of Adam, but he forgot: and We found on his part no firm resolve. The spiritual fall of two individual souls, Pharaoh and the Samiri, having been referred to, the one through overweening arrogance, and the other through a spirit of mischief and false harking back to the past, our attention is now called to the prototype of Evil who tempted Adam, the original Man, and to the fact that though man was clearly warned that Evil is his enemy and will effect his ruin, he showed so little firmness that he succumbed to it at once at the first opportunity.
English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said to me, "Recite: `Allahumma-hdini wa saddidni (O Allah! Direct me to the Right Path and make me adhere to the Straight Path).'' Another narration is: `Allahumma inni as'aluk-alhuda was-sadad (I beg You for guidance and uprightness).''
[Muslim Book 35, Chapter 17, Hadith # 6573].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Taha Ayat 115."and We found on his part no firm will-power" This Hadith brings out the following points "As-Sadad'' means correctness and uprightness. Here, it signifies "please grant me the ability to do everything in a correct manner'', that is in accordance with the practice of the Prophet [SAWW](PBUH). Some scholars of Hadith have interpreted it as steadfastness and moderation. Both interpretations accord well with its original meanings.
