English Translation of Al-Quran
[23].Surah Al-Muminun [The Believers]
Ayat 18. And Allah sent down from the sky water (rain) in (due) measure, and We gave it lodging in the earth, and verily, We are Able to take it away.
Ayat 19. Then We brought forth for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you, and whereof you eat.
Ayat 20. And a tree (olive) that springs forth from Mount Sinai, that grows oil, and (it is a) relish for the eaters.
[Tafseer] Ayat 19. With it We grow for you gardens of date-palms and grapes: in them have you abundant fruits: and of them you eat (and have enjoyment), also in Ayat 20 explains. a (Olive) tree springing out of Mount Sinai, which produces oil, and relish for those who use it for food. For Arabia the best olives grow round about Mount Sinai . The fig, the olive, Mount Sinai, and the sacred city of Makkah are mentioned together in association in Surah 95: ayats 1-3, where we shall consider the mystic meaning. Olive oil is an ingredient in medicinal ointments and in ointments used for religious ceremonies such as the consecration of kings. It has thus a symbolic meaning. If used for food, the olive has a delicious flavour. Cf. also 24:35, where the olive is called a Blessed Tree. < /span>
Hazrat Zaid bin Khalid (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) led the Fajr prayer at Al-Hudaibiyyah after a rainfall during the night. At the conclusion of prayer, he turned towards the people and said, "Do you know what your Rubb has said?'' They replied: "Allah and His Messenger know better.'' Upon this he remarked, "He has said: `Some of My slaves have entered the morning as My believers and some as unbelievers. He who said: We have had a rainfall due to the Grace and Mercy of Allah, believes in Me and disbelieves in the stars; and he who said: We have had a rainfall due to the rising of such and such star, disbelieves in Me and affirms his faith in the stars.'''
[Al-Bukhari Book 01, Chapter 12, Hadith # 807].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Muminun Ayat 18."Allah sent down from the sky water (rain)" (1). Since Allah is the Real Creator and Maker of all things and events, these should without any exception be attributed to Him Alone. If a reference is made to the cause or causes which occasion an incident or event, it is permissible but to ascribe them entirely to some factor or factors is the conduct of polytheists and amounts to Shirk and Kufr. (2). People of the Period of Ignorance used to ascribe the rain which occurred at the appearance or setting of some star, to that star and would thus accept it as the real cause of it. In this Hadith, such ascription has been regarded as Kufr and Shirk.
