English Translation of Al-Quran
[23].Surah Al-Muminun [The Believers]
Ayat 55. Do they think that Allah enlarge them in wealth and children?
Ayat 56. Allah hasten unto them with good things (in this worldly life so that they will have no share of good things in the Hereafter)? Nay, but they perceive not.
Ayat 57. Verily! Those who live in awe for fear of their Lord (Allah);
Ayat 58. And those who believe in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord (Allah),
Ayat 59. And those who join not anyone (in worship) as partners with their Lord (Allah);
Ayat 60. And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear (whether their alms and charities, etc., have been accepted or not), because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning).
Ayat 61. It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on].

Hazrat Nawwas bin Sam`an (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I asked Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) about virtue and sin, and he said, "Virtue is noble behaviour, and sin is that which creates doubt and you do not like people to know about it.''
[Muslim 32, Chapter 03, Hadith # 6195]
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Muminun Ayat 61."who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them" An important principle enshrined in this Hadith says that courtesy is a virtue, because a refined mind cultivates good habits, performs good deeds, and shuns all that is bad and corrupt. Also, a simple and understandable principle is laid down about sin. Man feels the pricking of conscience over every bad deed and is also afraid of the reproach of fault-finders, provided he has not reached the lowest point of moral depravity. But a seared conscience is least disturbed even by a heinous and deadly sin or by public censure. We can understand it by the example of man's smelling sense. If it is not dead, man can feel a stink and repugnant odour. But a long association with a dung heap robs away one's smelling sense and feeling of refuse.

[Tafseer] of ayat 55. Do they think that because Allah have granted them abundance of wealth and sons, Allah would hasten them on in every good? Nay, they do not understand. Worldly wealth, power, and influence may be but trials. Let not their possessors think that they are in themselves things that will necessarily bring them happiness. Verily those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; and those who believe in the Signs (Ayats) of their Lord; and those who join not (in worship) partners with their Lord; and those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord;- Their hearts are full of reverence for Allah and fear lest their charity or their hearts be not good enough for acceptance before their Lord; for they have the certainty of a future life, in which they will stand before the Judgment Seat. They fear for their own worthiness, but they hope in Faith. It is these who hasten in every good work, and these who are foremost in them.
